Sasol: commissioner rules share scheme dispute be refereed further

702.CO.ZA / 29 MAY 2018 - 13:32 / ZIYANDA MBOLEKWA

Charlotte Mokoena, Executive Vice President for Human Resources and Corporate Affairs at Sasol says the commissioner ruled that the share scheme dispute matter be refereed for further reconciliation and has not issued a certificate of non-resolution.

This comes after Solidarity, which represents mostly skilled and white workers, declared a dispute with the CCMA over Sasol’s plan to exclude white employees from its new share scheme.

Mokoena says they have been trusted as parties to continue the reconciliation process to which she says Sasol is really committed and will continue to adhere to the processes outlined by the commissioner.

This B- BBEE will be implemented on June 1. And transformation is a national imperative to which Sasol is firmly committed. There are a number of piece of legislation in place for transformation in this country. Black economic empowerment specifically, which includes enhancing ownership of our company by black South Africans.

She says the contract is the execution of that of that piece of legislation and it is about the ownership of Sasol South Africa.

This is about the second portion, phase two of Sasol Khanyisa B - BBEE structure. In terms of transformation this is about the letter of the law of the B - BBEE code and it is about the ownership of Sasol South Africa by Africans, Indians and coloureds.
