Building a dream, bead by bead
MPUMALANGA NEWS / 04 JUNE 2018 - 15.56 / STAFF REPORTER
Mzamose Arts and Craft is a bead manufacturer of both traditional and contemporary accessories, based in Mpumalanga.
Mzamose is a 100% black female-owned company, established in 2005, with the intention of fighting poverty by creating jobs to fellow South Africans and preserving the country’s heritage.
The company has received funding from the Mpumalanga Economic Growth Agency (MEGA) through training and also was provided access to the international market through product exhibitions.
Mzamose also received assistance from other government entities like the Small Enterprise Development Agency, Department of Trade and Industry and Craft Design Institute (CDI).
Owned by Nomcebo Dlamini, Mzamose Arts and Craft is a living testimony of a company that survived solely on her children’s social grants and loans for capital.
“SMMEs let us meet the government halfway in the fight against poverty by creating jobs for each other. Funding from government is there as start-up capital and not as permanent grants,” encouraged Dlamini.
