The mission of the Kgalema Motlanthe Foundation, established by former president Kgalema Motlanthe, is to contribute to the socio-economic development of South Africa and the continent through the facilitation of sustainable access to knowledge, education and economic transformation.
It also aims at contributing to the production of a knowledge-based economy, advocating for human rights and social inclusion.
The Drakensberg Inclusive Growth Forum brings together various stakeholders such as government, business and civil society, including the youth, to jointly share ideas and develop action plans in response to the triple challenges of poverty, inequality and unemployment.
Speaking during the launch, President Ramaphosa said that providing rural communities with security of tenure was critical for economic empowerment; it provides pathways out of poverty and ensures that growth is more exclusive.
