Sizwe Africa IT Group achieves level one B-BBEE accreditation


Sizwe Africa IT Group is pleased to announce that its strong focus on diversity and its total commitment to broad-based black economic empowerment (B-BBEE) has been rewarded with a level one B-BBEE accreditation, according to the ICT Amended Sector Codes.

The company has been undertaking a transformation journey over the past five years that has seen it transform in terms of ownership, board, management, processes and structure. "The fact that the company has now achieved a level one B-BBEE accreditation is viewed as another stepping stone towards the pinnacle of achievement in terms of transformation," according to the company's Executive for Corporate Development, Bongi Radebe.

"Our company management has long been fully committed to the principles of B-BBEE, as we are well aware that true diversity is critical to our ever-growing operation. However, even after having achieved level one status, we know it is just the beginning, Sizwe's next goal is to focus on improving on all the pillars of the ICT Amended Sector Codes, to a level above and beyond that laid down in the legislation," she says.

"Already, the company is making headway in certain areas," she continues, pointing out that it has achieved significant successes in respect of the building and continuously strengthening its partnerships with local small to medium enterprises (SMEs).

"Such partnerships play a vital role in contributing to the country's economic well-being. Furthermore, the Sizwe Supplier Development Programme has been created to help to capacitate and up-skill both existing and potential suppliers, as skills development is another key area of focus for us."

"When it comes to SME development, we focus on a sustainable approach that encompasses training, skills transfer, technical support and access to both our vast network of partners and the markets we play in.

"Mentoring also plays an integral role in assisting smaller B-BBEE businesses to succeed," she explains, pointing out that Sizwe equips employees for success through continuous skills development and training. Moreover, the company also supplies a range of other assistance, including business, marketing and technical expertise, hands-on skills transfer and formal certifications. She adds that it is a given that all Sizwe's own business units strive to make use of B-BBEE service providers whenever and wherever they can.

"For enterprise and supplier development, our processes are streamlined to offer preferential procurement, as well as skills development, which includes learnerships leading to employment, black disabled learning programmes and technical skills growth are also core parts of our overall B-BBEE strategy."

To this end, we will be able to leverage our level one B-BBEE accreditation to access new opportunities and provide further support to a wide range of black-owned SMEs nationwide, all of which will be backed by our SME Development Programme's continuous training and mentorship interventions," concludes Radebe.
