Shape the future of your business with skills development grants
CAPETALK / 06 MARC H 2019 - 14.25 / STAFF REPORTER
This Employer Awareness Week, Western Cape Government and CapeTalk will be taking a look at South Africa's skills shortage and its solution to the problem.
To encourage employers to upskill young people in order to grow their industry’s skills pool – we will be focusing on the importance of apprenticeships, employers submitting their Workplace Skills Plans and Annual Training Reports and, the positive impact it can have on your business’ BBBEE scorecards.
The Western Cape Government aims to make it easier for employers to offer apprenticeships, internships or learnerships with a specialist team to guide employers through the process.
In order to qualify for mandatory and discretionary skills development grants from SETAs,
employers must submit their ATRs and WSPs before the submissions deadline on 30 April 2019.
Remember, all employers with an annual salary of R500,000 or more are required by law to register to pay a Skills Development Levy with a SETA. Please send an email to the Red Tape Reduction Unit on firstname.lastname@example.org; or give them a call on 0861 888 126 for further assistance.
Companies who fail to do so will score zero points on the skills development section of their BBBEE scorecards.
