Although the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) is not a B-BBEE legislative document, it will play a vital role in presenting evidence at the time of a B-BBEE Verification.

Since March 2020, SANAS has allowed remote B-BBEE Verifications, a decision that they review monthly. Remote B-BBEE Verifications, in effect, have prepared B-BBEE Rating Agencies for POPIA in so much that they have had to address the issue of securely transporting sensitive information electronically.

As a practical tool, this communique provides BEE Chamber members with critical information to drive and accurately calculate their B-BBEE scorecard and manage the risk of Fronting Practice **.
