In this time of economic uncertainty there is a higher risk for small businesses to maintain their operations. This uncertainty introduces a risk to any recoverable contribution (loan) which is claimable over longer than 1 year. In order to reduce the risk, it is important to perform a due diligence on the potential beneficiary entities to ensure they have the capacity to repay a recoverable contribution. The B-BBEE Commission has indicated that claiming a recoverable contribution when it is not recoverable is a Fronting Practice which introduces a second risk to claiming recoverable contributions.
