Strategy Development

Building a solid business strategy is fundamental to the success of an organisation, as it provides direction for harnessing opportunities with foresight. Essentially, those developing a tactical plan for an organisation must develop the ability to think strategically through analysing the competitive environment and then recommending a firm position and value proposition.

The key to the success of any B-BBEE Strategy is that it makes good business sense and aligns with an organisation's business strategy. Through the evolution of B-BBEE, the BEE Chamber introduced Support Services, led by industry stalwarts. The Services Team is proficient in addressing all areas of the B-BBEE Act, The Codes of Good Practice and Sector Codes of Good Practice. 

What is the objective of Strategy Development?

The core aim of this framework is to drive transformation that will organically elevate an organisation's B-BBEE Scorecard. An analytical assessment of an organisation's current B-BBEE Scorecard circumstances starts the process and forms the base for building a B-BBEE Strategy. Considering an organisation's current business strategy, the Service Team develops goals, objectives and tactics. Strategy Development identifies partners for driving the process, laying the foundation for implementation.

How does the strategy development process roll out?

The Service Team has developed B-BBEE Strategies in organisations of all sizes and statures across all sectors. The Service Team aims to link the transformative process to the B-BBEE Scorecard through a three-phase step-by-step interactive process.

Phase 1 I Develop a high-level B-BBEE Strategic Options Report derived from current data, evidence and

                the outcome of the analytical assessment that will incorporate:

  1. Presenting the findings from the Score Assessment Report.

  2. Ascertaining the B-BBEE requirements of the organisation’s major customers.

  3. Investigating the B-BBEE status of an organisation’s major competitors.

  4. Presenting areas of the scorecard that are dormant due to constraints imposed
    by shareholders, legislation, global policy or the availability of resources.

  5. Proposing future Status Level ambitions, including time frames. 

  6. Providing a list of initiatives that will elevate an organisation's overall score,
    including an appropriate timeline. 

  7. Preparing a budget indicating the financial investment and resources necessary
    to meet the desired outcome.

Phase 2 | Direct an interactive brainstorming session with all stakeholders to ascertain the desired outcome based on the findings of the  Strategic Options Report.

Phase 3 | Develop a tactical strategic plan with milestones that includes:

  1. Facilitating high-level training addressing the impact on an organisation’s baseline score assessment.

  2. Outlining the minimum scoring requirements for organisations to meet their targets.

  3. Introducing an economic approach based on internal data to optimise an organisation's B-BBEE contribution.

  4. Presenting various structure options that will drive an organisation's scorecard leverage.

  5. Breaking down areas of the scorecard needing improvement and where potential opportunities lie.

  6. Proposing a timeline for strategic roll-out and Status Level predictions aligning with an organisation’s Measurement Period. 

  7. Consistently monitoring and adjusting the B-BBEE Strategy at intervals where necessary, taking into account recent trends, new legislation and the economic climate.
