The B-BBEE Commission has been overwhelmed with requests from stakeholders seeking to verify the validity of B-BBEE Verification Certificates, Sworn Affidavits, and CIPC EME B-BBEE Certificates. In response, the Commission has issued advisory letters to inform entities about the invalidity of certain documents and the need for their withdrawal. To address this issue, a new Practice Guide has been introduced to provide a consistent approach for stakeholders in assessing the validity of these B-BBEE documents, replacing the previous Practice Guide 01 of 2018 as of 01 November 2022. Additionally, Certificate Collection Services are available to assist in understanding these validations.

The B-BBEE Commission has over the years continued to be inundated with requests from various stakeholders to confirm validity of B-BBEE Verification Certificates, Sworn Affidavits and CIPC EME B-BBEE Certificates, which process has resulted in the B-BBEE Commission issuing a number of advisory letters to the affected entities to advise of invalidity of such documentation and the need to withdraw the invalid B-BBEE Verification Certificates, Sworn Affidavits or CIPC EME B-BBEE Certificates.

Thus, the purpose of this Practice Guide was to set out the approach for stakeholders to determine the validity of B-BBEE Verification Certificates, Sworn Affidavits and CIPC EME B-BBEE Certificates for consistency.
