What are the “BEE Codes”?
B-BBEE Codes of Good Practice issued by the DTI under the Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment Act 53, of 2003. The Codes describe the B-BBEE Scorecard which consist of 5 elements:
1) Ownership
2) Management Control
3) Skills Development
4) Enterprise and Supplier Development
5) Socio-economic Development
The B-BBEE Codes provide the terms and conditions for claiming BEE Points in the B-BBEE Scorecard, and the number of points required in order to claim a BEE Level including the sub-minimum requirements for the Priority Areas of Ownership, Skills Development and Enterprise Development.
