FREEDOM DAY

South Africa Flag

On Sunday, 27 April 2024, we commemorate Freedom Day.

Freedom Day is the commemoration of the first democratic elections held in South Africa on 27 April 1994.  These were the first post-apartheid national elections to be held in South Africa where anyone could vote regardless of race.

It symbolises our Country’s journey towards equality, justice, and freedom for all its citizens. Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) is intricately linked to this historic day, representing efforts to address the economic disparities inherited from apartheid. B-BBEE initiatives aim to empower Black People, by promoting their participation in the economy.

Together, Freedom Day and B-BBEE signify South Africa's ongoing commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable society.
